This page clarifies the Core Return Policy of OBR Parts & Marine. The core program is not a requirement for purchasing a product — it's an incentive for clients who want credit back for the part that failed.
Core Return Policy
- OBR pays return freight on a core shipped from anywhere in the lower 48 (excludes Alaska and Hawaii) using the provided shipping label.
- A return shipping label is included with every product that requires a core deposit.
- Package the core in the original box (if it's usable) and place the return shipping label on the package.
- For UPS core returns, drop the package off at any UPS pickup location or hand it to a UPS delivery truck.
- For freight shipments, call the toll-free number on the bill of lading for pickup.
- Include a copy of your invoice with every core return.
- The core deposit refund is mailed to the purchasing customer's address as it appears on the invoice.
Determining Core Value
Every core received by OBR is evaluated to assess its value. The condition and usability of the parts determines the value of the core — the core returned must match the core value of the product you purchased.
If one or more key components is determined to be unusable, the refund is adjusted to reflect the change in value.
Example: Gear Housing Assembly
A Gear Housing Assembly core has three key components in its evaluation. If all three are usable, you receive the full core credit. If one is unusable, the refund is adjusted by that percentage:
| Component | Share of credit |
|---|---|
| Housing | 60% |
| Vertical drive shaft | 20% |
| Horizontal propeller shaft | 20% |
Each component must be defect-free to qualify for its share of the credit.
